‘World’s leading sponsor of terrorism is Iran’: Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism across the world. “No nation on earth sponsors more terrorism than Iran,” he said, addressing a press conference in New Delhi, India. He noted that Iran does not spend money on building roads and improving lives of people but instead invests in sponsoring Hezbollah and Hamas. “The world’s leading sponsor of terrorism is Iran. Look at what they are doing now. They are holding hostage civilian vessels…they’ve laid mines in an international waterway,” he said. India’s foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has spoken alongside Rubio at the presser in New Delhi. The Indian view on the Strait of Hormuz crisis is that energy markets should be left to markets, he said. India will continue to diversify its energy sourcing at reasonable prices, Jaishankar added.
