Zohran Mamdani urges US to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if Israeli PM visits

Zohran Mamdani, the mayor of New York, acknowledged on Tuesday he did not have the authority to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu, but urged US federal authorities to do so if the Israeli prime minister visits the city later this year for the UN general assembly. Subscribe ► youtube.com
“Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal, the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people,” Mamdani said in a video posted to YouTube. The international criminal court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes relating to the Gaza war in 2024, the first time that the leader of a western-aligned democracy has been charged by the ICC. Mamdani said last week he was reviewing whether he would be able to arrest Netanyahu, after pledging to do so during his mayoral campaign last year.
