Iran strikes US bases in Jordan after US attacks IRGC targets on Larak Island

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched strikes on two US airbases in Jordan — King Hussein and al-Azraq — using ballistic missiles. Jordan's armed forces say they intercepted eight missiles in Jordanian airspace. The IRGC says the attack was in response to US strikes on Iran's Larak Island. A senior US official confirmed that US forces bombed two IRGC rocket launchers on Larak Island, marking the first known US attack on Iran in a month. Washington says the strike was preemptive, aimed at preventing the IRGC from placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM rejected Iran's claim that the US strike was an act of aggression, calling it "absolutely false". The IRGC says several soldiers and civilians were killed in the US strikes. The exchange marks the most significant US-Iran military escalation in weeks, after the Trump administration had shifted towards economic pressure.
