Germany has formally accused Russia of being behind the drone incident at Leipzig Airport and is responding with a series of measures aimed at increasing pressure on Moscow. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul says the Russian Consulate-General in Bonn will close on 18 September, while the lease for the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin will also be terminated. Berlin is proposing further EU measures against individuals linked to alleged Russian hybrid attacks, tightening entry controls for Russian nationals and increasing pressure on Russia's shadow fleet. Germany has stopped short of expelling Russian diplomats, but the measures are being presented as a clear signal that Berlin is serious about responding to Moscow and wants stronger action from the European Union.
