After two years of protests, the students seized on the chance to transform the movement into one that could take political power and announced a full slate of candidates for the 250-seat parliament, ranging from academics and athletes to farmers. In its latest update on Wednesday, Serbia’s electoral commission said the Student List had secured 140 seats. The students’ platform centred on a pledge to fight corruption and restore the rule of law, and after Sunday’s election they hold a comfortable governing majority.
