More than 80 countries have issued a joint statement at the United Nations strongly condemning Israel's unilateral measures in the occupied West Bank, including actions they say aim to expand Israel's unlawful presence and alter the demographic composition of Palestinian territory. Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour read the statement on behalf of the coalition of 85 member states and several international organisations. The signatories reiterated their opposition to any form of annexation and rejection of measures affecting areas occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. The Security Council is set to hold its monthly meeting on the Middle East on Wednesday, with expected focus on Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
