Iranian drone hits Oman’s Salalah oil tanks as Qatar and Saudi Arabia intercept attacks

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has declared the Strait of Hormuz a "no-go area," vowing no oil will pass without Tehran's permission as it shifts from retaliation to "full-out war." Three cargo ships were hit, including the Thai-flagged Mayuree Naree, which was struck by two projectiles in the engine room while attempting to transit the strait; 20 crew were rescued, and three remain missing. The IRGC also claimed strikes on a US helicopter base in Kuwait and security targets inside Israel. In Tehran, Al Jazeera's Mohammad Vall reported that millions attended funerals for commanders killed in the first days of the war, in a massive show of defiance despite ongoing attacks. The late Supreme Leader's burial has been delayed, awaiting more favourable conditions for a larger ceremony. Across the Gulf, Iranian drones struck oil storage facilities in Oman's port of Salalah, prompting a phone call between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik, who expressed Oman's condemnation of the targeting of its territories. Al Jazeera's Dmitry Medvedenko in Doha noted that Qatar intercepted multiple missile attacks with no damage, while its prime minister condemned the strikes as damaging regional peace. Saudi Arabia shot down 11 drones headed for an oil field, and in the UAE, two drones hit Dubai's airport, injuring four people, with a fire at Abu Dhabi's old airport quickly contained.
