Iran warns ‘ball in US court’ as ceasefire deal and Lebanon killings test Washington

Iran’s Foreign Minister says it is now up to Washington to decide whether the fragile ceasefire deal with Tehran holds. In a post on X, Abbas Araghchi insists that the “Iran–US Ceasefire terms are clear and explicit”: the United States must choose either a real ceasefire or continued war via Israel – it cannot have both. Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance says negotiations with Iran “over the next few days” will be crucial. He argues that the United States has significant leverage and wants a deal that he says protects American interests – while Iran insists that any agreement must stop attacks carried out through Israel and bring real relief to civilians, especially in Lebanon.
