Lebanon ceasefire begins: Fragile calm descends after Trump announces truce

A ceasefire has come into effect in Lebanon, bringing to an end more than six weeks of Israeli attacks—but only for ten days. The fighting has had a devastating impact on the country, with more than one million people displaced from their homes, in one of the country’s worst displacement crises in years. More than 2,000 people have been killed while thousands of others have been wounded. Diplomatic efforts to secure a more lasting peace are continuing.
