Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit China for talks aimed at deepening strategic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing amid rising global tensions and energy uncertainty. The visit, first announced earlier this year, is expected to focus on expanding partnerships in energy, trade, tourism, and security. China remains Russia’s largest foreign trade partner, while Moscow has become an increasingly important energy supplier for Beijing. As conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt global markets and threaten shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, China is placing greater importance on Russian oil and gas imports. One major project under discussion is the proposed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline, which would significantly expand gas exports from Russia to China. The two countries are also cooperating on Arctic oil and gas projects and the construction of new nuclear power units in China. Tourism between the two nations has also surged, with more than three million people traveling between Russia and China last year under a visa-free agreement. The visit highlights the growing strategic partnership between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin as both countries seek closer coordination in a rapidly changing global order.
