Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Beijing for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as the two countries prepare to deepen cooperation across energy, trade and strategic sectors. The visit comes shortly after US President Donald Trump’s trip to China, underscoring Beijing’s continued balancing between rival global powers. Putin is expected to sign dozens of agreements with China, with energy security high on the agenda, including discussions over the long-delayed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline. Despite strong economic ties, the project has faced disagreements over pricing and China’s concerns about over-dependence on Russian energy supplies. Moscow, under Western sanctions, is increasingly reliant on Beijing as its key trading partner, while both countries continue to present their relationship as part of a broader push for a multipolar world order. China is expected to brief Russia on recent diplomatic discussions with the United States, as both sides coordinate positions on Ukraine and the Middle East. To discuss this further, we are joined by our correspondents Katrina Yu in Beijing and Yulia Shapovalova in Moscow. Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly
