How ICE uses facial recognition to find out who you are

The DHS facial recognition app allow officers to scan the faces of individuals, cross-referencing them with various databases to try to identify them. Use of the app has inspired backlash on the streets, in courts and on Capitol Hill. Guardian US reporter Sam Levin obtained body cam footage from an Innovation Law Lab lawsuit of ICE officers arresting farm workers in Oregon and using Mobile Fortify to identify them. Later on in court, a judge was critical of the agents’ use of the technology, saying it relied on data that “can be inaccurate and produce individuals who are here in accordance with immigration laws”. #ice #facialrecognition #iceraids #immigration #usa #iceagents #iceofficers
