Ukraine offers drone expertise to Middle East and US amid aid uncertainty

Ukraine is sharing its expertise on countering Shahid-style drones with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. The drones, costing around $35,000, were previously shot down with interceptor missiles over $1 million each. To cut costs, Ukraine developed its own small interceptor drones, kamikaze-style, costing only a few thousand dollars. These drones are paired with Ukrainian operators, radar, and software to enhance effectiveness. Kyiv now offers complete drone defence solutions to other countries, including the United States. The initiative puts Ukraine in a unique position as a global provider of drone defence technology. As President Zelensky said, Ukraine now “has the cards” in international drone security.
